SEREMBAN: There is no motion for a vote of no confidence filed against Mentri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim for the upcoming state assembly sitting, said Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Awaludin Said.
Awaludin said he has not received any official notice or heard talk of such a move following recent developments on the adat (customary laws) crisis in the state.
"I can deny that this will be brought up or tabled at the upcoming sitting.
"Also, I will only allow a motion if the state government has made a decision on it," he told reporters.
Awaludin was asked to comment on speculation on social media that elected representatives from Barisan Nasional or Perikatan Nasional were planning to oust him during the next assembly sitting to be held on Oct 16.
The sitting, which will be officially opened by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, will be held over five days.
On Sept 5, the Undang of Johol Datuk Mohammed Abdullah, Datuk Mubarak Dohak, Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad, Abdul Rahim Yasin, the Tunku Besar Tampin Tunku Syed Syed Razman Tunku Syed Al-Qadri and Dato' Shahbandar Sungei Ujong Datuk Seri Utama Badarudin Abd Khalid claimed Ismail had signed a proclamation endorsing the deposition of Tuanku Muhriz as state ruler.
They claimed Ismail signed the document at Istana Laguna Biru in Port Dickson on Aug 3.
Mubarak is the former Undang of Sg Ujong, Maarof, the former Undang of Jelebu and Abdul Rahim, the former Undang of Rembau.
They also claimed that according to the Negri Sembilan Constitution, the rightful ruler of Negri Sembilan was Tuanku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja'afar
In response, Ismail said he had been made to sign the document under duress and had lodged a police report to enable an investigation to be conducted.
Ismail said the state government was of the position that the document failed to meet the processes and procedures stipulated under Article 10 of the Laws of the Constitution of Negri Sembilan 1959, making it void, unconstitutional and unenforceable.
He also pledged his loyalty to Tuanku Muhriz as the one and only legitimate and sovereign Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan.
Awaludin said even if an emergency motion was tabled to remove Ismail, he would not allow it.
"As I have already said, I will not allow issues related to unverified matters to be brought into the House.
"The House is the highest legislative institution to make laws and policies, and we cannot be discussing matters that are illegal under state laws," he said, adding that the authorities, including the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang should be allowed to resolve the adat-related matter first before it is brought to the state legislative assembly.
He also appealed to the public to be patient and to not speculate on the matter.
"For me, what is important is that the state government has been formed, the MB appointed, the exco and assemblymen sworn in.
"Let's give the state government time to resolve the issues before us.
"Do not listen too much to allegations and assumptions which are mostly untrue," he said.
To another question, Awaludin said although some sections of society were blaming Ismail for signing the proclamation only to say it was done under duress later, there were also those who were supportive of him.
Awaludin was talking to reporters at the launch of MANES, a state government programme to assist the needy, by Ismail at the Mentri Besar's official residence.
Ismail, when approached by the reporters, politely declined to comment on the adat issue.
