PUTRAJAYA: A sea of 1,500 students transformed into shifting patterns of colour, movement and Jalur Gemilang flags, bringing the National Day celebrations to life with a vibrant human graphics performance before the VVIP stand.
The performance, which blended traditional music with contemporary Gen Z hits, drew cheers and applause from the crowd of more than 100,000 spectators.
It also earned applause from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who applauded the students later while mingling with the public.
“He said thank you and, with the support of these children, this shows the true nature of the leadership of Malaysia Madani,” said human graphics coordinator Ahmad Hafiz Awaludin.
He said the students were motivated by the opportunity to create something new each year and contribute to the country’s National Day celebrations.
The Selangor Education Department officer said this year’s performance placed greater emphasis on traditional music and elements of Malaysian heritage.
He said the team also collaborated with the National Culture and Arts Department to bring elements of the human graphics presentation from the stands down to ground level, adding another dimension to the performance.
The performers’ costumes were also designed in-house by the 23-member coaching team comprising staff from the Selangor Education Department.
The team includes members with expertise in symmetry, creative movement and training management, with costume design also handled by members of the group.
“We designed the outfits ourselves, from head to toe,” he said.
