The Star remains trusted voice for Malaysians, says Lam Thye

KUALA LUMPUR: The Star remains a trusted source of news that has kept Malaysians informed for more than five decades, says social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye.

In a special message marking The Star’s 55th anniversary, Lee congratulated the newspaper on its longstanding role in delivering accurate and fair news.

He said The Star had gone beyond reporting daily events by publishing useful and engaging articles on a wide range of subjects.

“These include economic news that helps us understand how our country is growing, human-interest stories that bring us closer together, and thoughtful pieces that help us learn, think and see the bigger picture,” he said.

Lee said a well-informed public was essential to shaping the nation’s future.

He also praised The Star for providing information on various aspects of life, including workplace safety and health, while promoting awareness of mental wellbeing.

Lee said the newspaper’s letters-to-the-editor section also gave readers an avenue to share their views, ideas and concerns.

“This gives everyone a chance to share ideas, speak up and contribute to building a better Malaysia,” he said.

He expressed hope that The Star would continue to inform, enlighten and serve Malaysians as a trusted source of news and a platform for diverse voices.

“We hope The Star will continue to inform, enlighten and serve the people – as a trusted source of news, a platform for voices, and a steady companion to all Malaysians,” he said.
