PETALING JAYA: A total of 29 areas in Malaysia recorded unhealthy to hazardous Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 10am on Tuesday (Aug 30), according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
Four areas in Sarawak recorded Very Unhealthy readings, namely IPD Serian with an API reading of 298, Kuching (252), Sri Aman (232), and Samarahan (230).
Seven other areas in Sarawak recorded Unhealthy readings, including six areas in Selangor (Johan Setia, Shah Alam, Banting, Klang, Petaling Jaya, and Kuala Selangor), four areas in Perak (Tasek Ipoh, Tanjung Malim, and Pegoh Ipoh), and several areas in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajayam Negri Sembilan, Melaka, and Labuan.
Another 39 other areas in the country recorded Moderate to Good readings.
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
