PETALING JAYA: PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is expected to give his statement to the police following his controversial remarks that Washington had previously sought to influence Malaysia's political leadership.
His political secretary Syahir Sulaiman said Hadi, who is also Marang Member of Parliament, was ready to give his full cooperation to the police in their investigation into the matter.
“Yes, Bukit Aman has called us, and Tan Sri (Hadi) has been informed. He is ready to give his full cooperation to the police.
“The date and time (of the investigation) will be decided,” he said on Monday (Sept 7).
Three police reports have been lodged over a claim made by Hadi that the US had offered assistance to topple the Malaysian government in 2014, during his winding-up speech at the 72nd PAS muktamar on Saturday.
The reports were lodged on Sunday by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Bandar Tun Razak branch vice-chief V. Jonathan, PKR Bandar Tun Razak branch women’s chief Mazlina Osman and Bandar Tun Razak PKR Youth deputy chief Amarul Hisham Jalil at the Cheras police station.
The US Embassy has since rejected Hadi’s claim, saying that Washington had never sought to determine Malaysia’s political leadership.
