Boy, 12, killed after motorcycle gets trapped between two lorries in Kedah

PETALING JAYA: A 12-year-old boy died after the motorcycle he was riding was trapped between two lorries in an accident at Masjid Batu 3, Jalan Jeniang in Gurun, Kedah.

Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Hanyan Ramlan said the boy was identified as Muhammad Ilham Firdaus Mohamad Iruan, a Year Six pupil of a primary school in Pendang.

“Initial investigations found that the accident, which was reported at 2pm on Thursday (Sept 3), occurred when a car braked suddenly after the traffic lights turned red.

“A lorry behind the car was forced to brake suddenly, causing its rear section to skid and crush the motorcycle,” he was quoted as saying in an Astro Awani report.

ACP Hanyan said the crash left the boy trapped near the rear tyre between the two lorries, while his 14-year-old friend, who was riding pillion, was thrown onto the road.

“The deceased suffered severe injuries to his body and both thighs after the accident while his pillion rider suffered injuries to his hands and legs,” he said.

The victim’s body was taken to Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim in Sungai Petani for a post-mortem.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
