PETALING JAYA: They are supposed to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary on Thursday (Sept 3) but Hani Othman, the wife of a senior fire officer who went missing in the Nepal flood tragedy, is still waiting for him to come home.
In a Facebook post, Hani said her husband Mohd Fakhrul Munir Mohd Isa, a member of the Fire and Rescue Department Special Air Operations Team, is supposed to return today.
“You promised to bring back an anniversary present. I am nervous thinking about what you will give me this year,” she wrote today.
She also listed the couple’s upcoming plans such as climbing Mount Rinjani in Indonesia and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Hani said they were slated to sit for the Malaysian Skills Certificate technical and vocational education and training examination on Sept 6 and then complete their divemaster course in Pulau Tioman in October.
“In May, you have to take me to Mount Rinjani and then Mount Kilimanjaro in August.
“I also told you that we will train together and I will accompany you all the way to the summit of Mount Everest. Your dream of reaching the summit has not been fulfilled yet.
“Please… where are you?” she said in the heartening post accompanied by the couple’s wedding photo.
The fate of Mohd Fakhrul Munir, affectionately known as Loe, and dozens of other Malaysians travelling in the mountainous area remains uncertain, as rescue teams have faced difficulties accessing the disaster zone due to roads being cut off.
Hani reportedly flew to Kathmandu on Aug 28 to seek an update on the search for her husband and others who were still missing.
She also engaged in tireless efforts of collecting a lorry full of essential supplies for disaster victims.
