Jobless man and wife admit hurting their children

SEREMBAN: An unemployed man pleaded guilty to two charges of causing physical injury to his 15-year-old stepdaughter and a third charge of inflicting the same on his year-old daughter.

The accused did not contest the three charges after it was read to him before Sessions Court judge Kunasundary Marimuthu.

On the first charge, the accused, 35, and his wife, 44, were jointly charged with causing injury to the 15-year-old at a house in Kg Jerangkang Darat, Nilai.

His wife, who is the victim’s biological mother, also pleaded guilty to the charge. They allegedly committed the offence at about 7.15pm on Aug 12.

The man was also charged with causing injury to the one-year-old girl at the same place and time.

The third charge was causing physical injury to the 15-year-old at 8.43pm on July 22 in the same house.

DPP Norazihah Asmuni offered bail of RM60,000 for the man’s three charges and RM20,000 for the woman.

The judge set bail at RM19,000 and RM8,000, respectively, and set Sept 21 for sentencing.
