GEORGE TOWN: The Malaysia Progressive Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce (MPE) is aiming to boost trade ties between Malaysian and Lao businesses by driving stronger participation from Laos at the upcoming ASEAN+3 Young Leadership Summit (FoodTech & Trade).
MPE honorary adviser Datuk Dr Lim Beng Suat expressed optimism following a positive reception from the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Malaysia during a recent courtesy call on Ambassador Thepthavone Sengmany.
“We hope to see greater participation from Lao chambers of commerce, manufacturers, and industry leaders,” Lim said.
“This summit provides an essential platform to build strategic partnerships, foster cross-border cooperation, and explore new regional market opportunities,” she said.
The high-level gathering will focus on promoting food technology innovation, unlocking trade avenues, and creating networking opportunities for young entrepreneurs across the ASEAN+3 region.
Lim noted that MPE deeply appreciates Ambassador Thepthavone’s support in encouraging Laotian business groups to attend the event, adding that closer engagement between the two nations will expand investment and economic collaboration.
The ASEAN+3 Young Leadership Summit is scheduled to take place in Penang in May 2027.
