PETALING JAYA: One area in Selangor recorded an unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading as of 10am on Tuesday (Aug 18), according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
Johan Setia was the only area to breach the unhealthy threshold, recording an API of 160.
Among the areas with the highest moderate readings were IPD Serian in Sarawak (97), Sri Aman in Sarawak (95), Shah Alam and Banting in Selangor (84 and 80 respectively) and Bukit Rambai in Melaka (84).
Kuching in Sarawak (81), Seri Manjung in Perak (80), Samarahan in Sarawak (79) and Klang in Selangor (78) also recorded elevated moderate readings.
Meanwhile, 65 areas around the country recorded API readings at the moderate level, while two areas recorded good readings.
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
