KOTA KINABALU: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah’s (Gagasan) women’s wing has denied claims that 20 of its divisions demanded incumbent chief Datuk Redonah Bahanda to step down.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the party’s women’s information bureau said no motion was submitted, and the allegations did not reflect the actual state of the wing’s leadership.
It added that a poster using the Sabah Info logo was also fake and was not official material issued by the bureau.
“The public is advised not to easily believe or spread unverified information, especially content that could cause confusion or create inaccurate perceptions about the wing and its leadership,” the statement said.
The bureau said that Redonah’s leadership remains essential to strengthen the organisation, maintain unity among members, and empower women at the grassroots level.
It stressed that differences of opinion exist in any organisation and should not be used as a basis to fabricate stories or create the impression of a large-scale push against the leadership.
In the November 2025 state election, Redonah, who is also the former political secretary to the Chief Minister, lost her bid to win the Bandau seat, which went to independent candidate Datuk Maijol Mahap following a 13-corner fight.
Redonah comes from the influential Bahanda family in northern Kota Marudu, Her brothers are Parti KDM deputy president and Kota Marudu MP, Datuk Wetrom, and independent Kudat MP Datuk Verdon. All have taken different political positions.
She is currently the chairman of state-owned Sedcovest Holdings, a position she has held since January this year.
Speculation has been rife that her two brothers were eyeing a return to Barisan Nasional in the coming general election.
Gagasan is the anchor party in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition.
