KOTA KINABALU: The sole assemblyman from Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) will focus on serving his constituents and supporting state stability following the party's withdrawal from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
GRS deputy secretary-general Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said he had met with Paginatan assemblyman Datuk Rusdin Riman following KDM’s announcement.
“We spoke, and Rusdin said his commitment is to his constituents as well as the stability and development of the state government,” Armizan said in a Facebook post late Saturday (Aug 15).
Armizan added that Rusdin had also attended a gathering for state assemblymen in Kota Kinabalu earlier in the day.
While KDM is not a component party of GRS, it had previously pledged support for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor following the state election last November.
KDM acting president Priscella Peter announced the party’s withdrawal of support on Saturday (Aug 15), stating that the decision was unanimously agreed upon by the supreme council and 300 grassroots leaders across 25 divisions in preparation for the upcoming election.
Despite pulling support from the state coalition, KDM clarified that it remains part of the federal Unity Government.
