Fadhlina: Time to strengthen machinery ahead of polls

AYER KEROH: PKR must take stock of its weaknesses, listen to the people and move forward as a stronger party, says Wanita Keadilan chief Fadhlina Sidek.

She added the party could no longer afford to be distracted by trivial matters and should use the congress to turn constructive criticism into concrete action ahead of the next general election.

“We no longer have time for trivial matters.

“We must acknowledge our weaknesses, listen to the conscience of the people, provide the best possible service, and build upon all our strengths as the voice of the people,” Fadhlina said in her opening remarks at the joint Wanita and Angkatan Muda Keadilan congress here yesterday.

Fadhlina also called for new talent to be given opportunities to take on leadership responsibilities.

“We must continue to make room for new commanders to lead,” she said.

Later, in her policy speech at the Wanita Keadilan congress, Fadhlina urged the party to begin preparations early for the Melaka state election and other upcoming polls, including in Sarawak.

She said the party’s recent defeats in the Johor and Negri Sembilan state elections should serve as motivation to strengthen its organisation and election machinery, rather than be a source of prolonged lament.
