THE family of a man who drowned saving a farmer was horrified to receive his decaying body by van without proper preservation, Makkal Osai reported.
Swimming instructor Rajesh, drowned after giving his life jacket to a farmer trapped by rising floodwater in Kerala, India. He was swept away by the current and drowned.
His sacrifice was praised after being reported in local media.
The body of Rajesh was recovered four days later, underwent an autopsy and delivered to his family for burial.
However, the official who organised the transport reportedly sent a van without facilities to preserve the body, causing it to decay.
The undignified treatment sparked outrage, prompting Kerala minister AP Anil Kumar to order the official’s suspension pending an investigation.
