KUALA PILAH: Ten Negri Sembilan assemblymen have taken their oaths of office as state executive council members before Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
Linggi assemblyman Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli and Palong assemblyman Datuk Mustapha Nagoor were retained, while the new appointees are Datuk Zaifulbahri Idris (Chembong), John Siow Kong Choon (Chennah), Siti Nur Umaira Hasim (Labu), Datuk Mohd Asna Amin (Lenggeng), Datuk Mohd Razi Mohd Ali (Sungai Lui), Suhaimizan Bizar (Gemencheh), Mohd Fairuz Mohd Isa (Serting) and Datuk Razali Abu Samah (Sikamat).
In his address, Tuanku Muhriz reminded the exco members to carry out their responsibilities with honesty, fairness and professionalism and to not abuse their power for personal, family or friends’ interests.
The Ruler said this was especially important when making decisions on the awarding of government tenders or projects.
“As I have decreed before, the country needs leaders with strong principles or persons of honour.
“Abuse of power and position will lead to injustice and fragility in the implementation of policies formulated for the benefit of the people.”
Tuanku Muhriz said the appointments placed a significant responsibility on the exco members, who also serve as assemblymen for their respective constituencies, Bernama reported.
The Ruler said they were responsible for formulating policies and determining the direction of the state administration, with the interests and well-being of the people prioritised in every decision.
Tuanku Muhriz said the people have placed high expectations on the state government and therefore, every policy and plan must be implemented efficiently, transparently and effectively.
The Ruler also urged the new leadership to build on the previous state government’s achievements, particularly in attracting quality investments, increasing state revenue and creating more economic and employment opportunities.
Tuanku Muhriz said Negri Sembilan had recorded strong investment figures and commendable growth in state revenue and these achievements must be maintained and further enhanced for the benefit of the people.
“At the same time, all weaknesses must be identified and continuously improved to ensure that the state administration remains excellent, high in integrity and effective.”
The 16th Negri Sembilan election saw Barisan Nasional win 18 seats and Perikatan Nasional seven, enabling the two coalitions to form the state government with a two-thirds majority.
Also present at yesterday’s ceremony were Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Muhriz, Tunku Panglima Besar Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin Tuanku Muhriz, Undang Luak Sungei Ujong Datuk Klana Petra Muhammad Faris Johari, Undang Luak Rembau Datuk Sedia Raja Hassan Ab Hamid and Mentri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim.
