JOHOR BARU: Police have busted a drug syndicate with the arrest of seven people and seizure of more than RM10mil in drugs in a series of raids statewide.
Johor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Hoo Chuan Huat said all the suspects aged 36 to 46 comprised five local men and two foreigners, including a woman.
He said among the 210kg of drugs seized were 127 litres of methamphetamine liquid, cocaine, ketamine, heroin, eramin 5 and ecstasy pills.
“The suspects are believed to have been using a condominium to pack the drugs to be supplied locally,” he said during a press conference here on Wednesday (Aug 5).
In detailing the five raids, DCP Hoo said that the first arrest was made at the rest area in Kulai on Aug 2 at about 11am.
“At that time we arrested a local man and a foreign woman and seized some 82.4kg of methamphetamine liquid from a car,” he said, adding that they subsequently raided a home in Iskandar Puteri and detained another foreigner.

“We seized an array of drugs and equipment from these premises which were used to pack the drugs into vapes with flavouring,” he said, adding that they then carried out another raid in Taman Sutera Utama and arrested a local man.
He added that the fourth raid was done in Mutiara Rini and finally the fifth raid, which netted three men including the mastermind, was done in Tanjung Agas in Muar.
“The drugs seized are enough to feed the addiction of about 650,000,” he said, adding that the syndicate has been operating since Feb this year.
He added that all the syndicate members have been remanded and investigations were being done under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“Urine taken from the suspects showed two were positive for drugs while four of the suspects also had past criminal records,” DCP Hoo said, adding that police also seized three cars worth RM120,000.
He urged those with information to contact the police hotline at 012-2087222.
