KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan is not pulling out of the unity government, says its secretary-general Datuk Loretto Padua.
Loretto clarified the matter after a fake letter, allegedly using the party logo and his name as the spokesperson claiming otherwise, made the rounds on social media.
"Parti Warisan denies this statement circulating on social media and takes this as another slander attempt that is aimed at defaming Warisan.
"These people not only throw allegations, but also dare to falsify Warisan documents to make it seem as if they are official statements from the secretary-general," he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 3).
Based on the fake letter, Warisan had supposedly decided to leave the unity government after discussing and getting approval from all party members and grassroots supporters.
The letter alleged that this decision was not intended to destabilise the government, but was made after taking into account factors following the Johor and Negri Sembilan state polls.
The letter also claimed that the move was meant to act as a check and balance towards the current government.
Warisan is not part of the Sabah state government, but supports the federal unity government.
