Penang PH to meet on Aug 8, to discuss election preparations

GEORGE TOWN: Pakatan Harapan Penang will hold a meeting this Saturday (Aug 8) on the preparations for the upcoming general election (GE) or state election.

Penang PH chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the meeting is also expected to touch on several matters related to current political developments, including the positions of UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the state administration.

"We will receive the report of the sub-committee that was established a few months ago to coordinate preparations for GE or state election. I believe the issue of UMNO or BN's position in Penang will also be discussed," he told reporters here on Monday (Aug 3).

Chow, who is also the Chief Minister, said the performance of Pakatan component parties is also expected to be among the matters discussed in the meeting.

In the 2023 Penang state election, the Pakatan and Barisan coalition formed the Unity Government after winning 29 of the 40 contested State Legislative Assembly seats, with DAP winning all 19 contested seats, PKR (seven), Amanah (one) and Barisan (two). – Bernama
