KUCHING: Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) appoints Ruslan Abdul Ghani as group chief executive officer designate effective Sept 1, succeeding retiring CEO Datuk Sharbini Suhaili on Nov 1.
Sharbini completes his contract at the end of October. Ruslan will work with Sharbini and the executive committee over the next two months to ensure a leadership transition.
Ruslan joins the state-owned utility from Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd, where he served as president and group CEO. He previously held senior leadership roles with PETRONAS in Malaysia and internationally.
SEB chairman Datuk Ibrahim Baki said the board expressed confidence in Ruslan's ability to support Sarawak's renewable energy goals.
"His expertise in the energy and infrastructure sectors, combined with his strong commitment to operational excellence and sustainability, will enable Sarawak Energy to continue advancing its long-term strategy while supporting Sarawak's renewable energy aspirations," he said.
Ibrahim also credited Sharbini with expanding the company's regional energy connectivity.
"Under Sharbini's leadership, Sarawak Energy has evolved into one of Southeast Asia's leading renewable energy utilities through the successful implementation of the Sarawak Energy Excellence Roadmap.
"He strengthened the group's operational and financial resilience, expanded regional energy connectivity and firmly positioned Sarawak as an emerging renewable energy powerhouse," he said.
