BENTONG: Four people, including a woman and a five-year-old boy, were killed after a tree fell onto the pickup truck they were travelling in along Jalan Lama Kuala Lumpur near Janda Baik.
Another five-year-old boy involved in the incident suffered severe injuries.
Bentong OCPD Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar said police were alerted to the incident by members of the public at about 12.30pm on Monday (Aug 3).
He said all five victims were travelling in the four-wheel drive when the tree came crashing down on the vehicle.
"The 35-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Also killed were a 36-year-old woman who was seated in the front passenger seat and a five-year-old boy who was on her lap.
"A 40-year-old man who was seated in the rear of the vehicle also died in the incident," he said when contacted.
Supt Zaiham said that another five-year-old boy, who was seated in the rear of the vehicle, survived but sustained injuries and was taken to Bentong Hospital for treatment.
"Based on identification documents found, the injured boy is believed to be the twin brother of the child who was killed," he said.
He said all four bodies had been sent to Temerloh Hospital for post-mortem.
