SEREMBAN: Twin brothers Izzat Izwan Mohd Noor and Izzat Ismir Mohd Noor have made it a tradition to vote together in every election despite living in different states.
For the 38-year-old twins, living apart with their own families is no barrier to this tradition.
Izzat Izwan, who is based in Selangor as a Fire and Rescue Department personnel, called his brother on Thursday to coordinate their polling plans.
“I returned to Seremban on Friday night so that we can go and vote early today (yesterday).
“Since we started voting, we’ve always done it together,” he said, explaining that his identity card still carries their family’s home address although he is working out of state now.
Both brothers cast their votes at the SM King George V polling centre here.
Izzat Ismir, who works at Pos Malaysia here, expressed hope that whichever coalition gets the mandate would execute their responsibilities well.
“My hope is that whoever wins will listen to the grievances of the people and fulfil the pledges made in their manifesto,” he said.
In Jelebu, another pair of twins turned up early at the polling station in Pertang along with their best friend.
Twin sisters Asmissa Sakina Assemi and Asmissa Syafina Assemi arrived with their buddy Norazlin Abdullah, whom they have known since their toddler years.
All three are now 25.
“Who says young people don’t wake up early?” Norazlin quipped after the trio joined the morning crowd to cast their ballots.
The friends said that voting together is almost second nature for them, having grown up side by side in the same community and having shared many of life’s milestones.
