JOHOR BARU: A woman pillion rider died on the spot after her husband's motorcycle was hit from behind by another motorcycle here on Sunday (July 26) night, resulting in a multi-vehicle accident.
Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Azrul Hisham Mohd Shaffie said the incident took place at 7.50pm at KM2 Jalan Skudai, Lido Beach.
He said the 25-year-old husband, a barber, and the victim were travelling from Hospital Sultanah Aminah towards Skudai.
"The man, a local, made a U-Turn just after the hospital, and tried to squeeze between vehicles at the accident scene," he said in a statement on Monday (July 27).
ACP Azrul Hisham said their motorcycle was then hit from behind by a motorcycle ridden by a 23-year-old local man, causing their machine to skid into the left lane.
He said the woman fell in the middle of the road, while her husband rolled onto the left road shoulder.
"The woman victim suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene," ACP Azrul Hisham said.
A third motorcycle carrying a 24-year-old male security guard and a 22-year-old woman riding pillion tried to avoid the wreckage and hit a car driven by a local woman production operator, aged 28, he added.
He said the first two motorcyclists and the woman pillion rider from the third motorcycle were taken to the Yellow Zone of Hospital Sultanah Aminah's emergency department, while the security guard was seriously hurt and sent to the Red Zone.
ACP Azrul Hisham urged any witnesses to contact investigating officer Insp Dayang Azeiman Awang Sebeli at 017-3064779 to help with the investigation.
