Forest fire in Bandar Puncak Alam brought under control


SHAH ALAM: A forest fire in the hills near Bandar Puncak Alam has been fully brought control.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the fire involved a hilly area covering approximately 4.45ha.

He said the operation involved personnel from the Bestari Jaya and Bukit Jelutong fire stations and the Saujana Utama volunteer fire brigade.

"Firemen from Bestari Jaya conducted operations in the hilly area near a school football field, while those from Bukit Jelutong carried out firefighting in the hilly area near a residential area, whereas the Saujana Utama volunteers conducted firefighting in the hilly area beside a school near a residential area," he said in a statement on Monday (July 27).

Ashrul Riezal said the fire was brought under control at 1.30pm and the operation ended at 3pm.

After the fire was successfully extinguished, firefighters inspected the location to ensure there were no more sources that could reignite before the operation concluded.

He added that two schools near the incident location, namely SK Puncak Alam 2 and Sekolah Rendah Agama Puncak Alam, were temporarily closed on the orders of the Kuala Selangor education office. – Bernama
