PETALING JAYA: Heavy rain and stormy weather are expected to impact six states across Peninsular Malaysia until 8pm on Monday (July 27), says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The department said affected areas include Pahang (Bentong, Bera, Rompin); Selangor (Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak); and Johor (Segamat, Mersing, Kota Tinggi).
Kuala Lumpur is also forecasted to experience similar heavy rainfall and windy weather along with the northern states of Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta); Kelantan (Gua Musang); and Terengganu (Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun).
Warnings are issued when signs indicate thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour in the affected areas.
“Residents in affected areas are advised to remain cautious, avoid outdoor activities, and monitor official updates for safety,” MetMalaysia said in a press statement on its Facebook page on Monday.
Commuters and drivers are also advised to exercise caution and expect possible traffic congestion on their way home as the heavy rain is forecasted to coincide with the evening rush from 5pm to 7pm.
