THE father of an eight-month-old infant garnered praise online for giving out earplugs to passengers on a red-eye flight to Guangxi, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The man, whose surname was Chen, was travelling from Yichang city in Hubei province to Guangxi with his family for a holiday.
Worried that his son might wake up other passengers due to his cries, Chen bought 100 pairs of earplugs online a week in advance.
After boarding, Chen walked around explaining the situation and offering earplugs to them.
To his surprise, most politely declined. “Many people simply told me that it was okay and they did not need them. Everyone was friendly and understanding.”
On the flight back, Chen once again distributed earplugs to passengers nearby who wanted them.
Many Internet users praised his thoughtful gesture.

The eight-year-old border collie named Chutou belonged to Guo, a social media influencer.
For the past nine years, Guo had been taking Chutou on road trips across China and filming their adventures. He amassed more than one million followers on social media. However in May this year, a man and a woman were caught on CCTV kidnapping Chutou from Guo’s family farm.
The couple sold Chutou to a meat trader for 8 yuan per kg (RM4.83), receiving a total sum of 180 yuan (RM108.73). It was later slaughtered for its meat.
Following the incident, Guo made a police report, but what raised hackles was the 2,300 yuan value the police placed on the dog.
Under China’s legal system, pets were regarded as personal property and their value is primarily determined based on breed, age, and market prices.
Many pointed out that Chutou’s social media account with Guo had more than a million followers and that the commercial value had not been taken into account in the valuation.
