THE construction of the new building for SJKT Sungai Bakap in Penang, which had been delayed since 2015 due to various issues, including a legal action against the Education Ministry can finally proceed after the courts dismissed the case, Makkal Osai reported.

The RM12.6mil building for the school in Nibong Tebal, which is being developed by Yayasan Didik Negara, will have six classrooms, a staff room, a resource centre and other amenities.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek said she was glad to present the Letter of Acceptance to the school management during a groundbreaking ceremony recently.

Fadhlina, who is also Nibong Tebal MP, said the new building is scheduled for completion within 56 weeks.

Penang state exco member Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, who also spoke at the event, said the Madani government has now commenced work on two Tamil schools in the state since coming into power.
