Hit-and-run: Election worker killed after being struck by lorry in Seremban


SEREMBAN: A party election worker was killed after he was believed to have been struck by a lorry while putting up flags along Jalan Kuala Sawah-Rantau near here.

District OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Yatim Osman said the incident happened near Kg Belangkan around 6.40pm on Sunday (July 19).

"Based on a preliminary probe, the victim was standing along the road shoulder and putting up party flags near a signpost. It is believed that a lorry struck the signpost and the victim who was killed on the spot," he said in a statement.

ACP Mohd Yatim said the lorry driver is believed to have fled the scene immediately after the crash. Efforts to track down the driver are underway.

He urged eyewitnesses to contact investigating officer Insp Nor Fadzilah Mohd Zainuddin at 019-461 1794 or the district operations room at 06-603 3222 to assist in investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
