LINGGI: There is no fallout over Pakatan Harapan’s choice of candidate for Chuah, says state coalition chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
He said Port Dickson PKR deputy chief Datuk Kenny Chiew Chi Kin, who was among the touted names to contest the seat, is behind candidate Datuk Yew Boon Lye.
“We have seen several social media posts playing up a supposed dispute over what happened in Chuah when the matter has in fact been resolved.
“Kenny (Chiew) has also affirmed support for Pakatan candidates contesting in seats under the Port Dickson constituency,” he told a press conference.
“There was no dispute at all. These were among perceptions being played up to affect our candidates.”
He also reminded all quarters to campaign ethically.
Meanwhile, Chiew explained that he was not selected as a candidate due to administrative oversight a decade ago.
“I have never been charged nor brought to court. This matter also does not involve criminal offences, corruption or integrity matters.
“No action has been taken against me over this as well,” he said, adding his legal team will be working with the authorities to update his records in the system.
Yew, meanwhile, expressed gratitude to Chiew for continuing to express commitment to Pakatan’s campaign.
