Moderate 5.4-magnitude quake hits Sulawesi Sea


KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate 5.4-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Sulawesi Sea at 10.23am on Saturday (July 18), according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

It said in a statement that the earthquake's epicentre was located at 4.5 degrees North and 124.9 degrees East, at a depth of 10km.

It added that the epicentre was located about 199km west of Pulau Talaud, Indonesia.

"Initial assessment finds no tsunami threat to Malaysia,” it said. - Bernama
