JELEBU: Negri Sembilan Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias and DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke are set to defend their respective state seats of Pertang and Chennah after nominations closed for the Negri Sembilan election on Saturday (July 18).
Returning officer Abdul Rahim A. Aziz announced that all nomination papers submitted for the four state constituencies under the Jelebu parliamentary seat - Chennah, Pertang, Sungai Lui and Klawang - were accepted, with no papers rejected.

In Chennah, Loke, representing Pakatan Harapan, will face Barisan’s Siow Kong Choon in a straight fight.
Pertang will see a three-cornered contest involving incumbent Jalaluddin of Barisan, Pakatan’s Mohd Umry Abdul Khois and Bersatu’s Mohd Faizal Fadli Mohd Idrus.
In Sungai Lui, Barisan incumbent Datuk Mohd Razi Mohd Ali will seek a fourth consecutive term against Pakatan candidate Zainal Fikri Abd Kadir and Bersatu’s Mazrulhisham Abd Mansor in another three-way contest.
Klawang will also witness a three-cornered fight, with Pakatan incumbent Bakri Sawir defending his seat against Perikatan Nasional’s Danni Rais - his cousin - and Bersatu candidate Muhammad Adib Musa.
“I declare that the nomination process is closed and no nomination papers for any of the four constituencies were rejected,” Abdul Rahim said.
Polling for the Negri Sembilan state election will be held on Aug 1 with early voting on July 28.
