SEREMBAN: MCA appeals to voters to give Barisan Nasional a clear mandate in the Aug 1 state polls so that the people will have a government focused on governance rather than one distracted by endless political disputes and partisan confrontation.
In a joint statement, the party's seven candidates said only with political stability can the state move beyond political infighting and focus fully on improving livelihoods and creating better opportunities for all.
"The recently concluded Johor state election reflected the people's growing preference for political stability, responsible governance and practical solutions.
"Stability is not an end in itself but it is the foundation for sustained economic growth, stronger investor confidence, quality job creation and continuous infrastructure development," they said.
The party's seven candidates are state chief Datuk Leaw Kok Chan who will be contesting in Temiang, Yap Siok Moy (Rahang), Koh Kim Swee (Repah), Alan Lai (Nilai), Siow Kong Choon (Chennah), Chong Fui Ming (Bahau) and Pau Jeou Ching (Chuah).
They said a stable government provided businesses with the confidence to invest, creates more opportunities for young people and ensures that development policies are implemented consistently for the benefit of all.
"Throughout this campaign, MCA will remain committed to promoting a mature, rational and policy-driven political culture.
"We will focus on practical solutions, sound governance and delivering on our promises, rather than engaging in political theatrics or divisive rhetoric," they said.
The group said the state election was not merely about electing assemblymen but was to determine the direction of Negri Sembilan for the next five years.
MCA, they said, will continue to serve as a bridge between the people, the business community, educational institutions and Malaysia's diverse communities.
"We will continue to represent the aspirations of the people, advocate fair and balanced development, and ensure that the benefits of economic progress are shared by every community across the state.
"We therefore sincerely appeal to every voter to give Barisan a clear mandate to govern, so that together we can deliver stability, strengthen the economy, improve livelihoods and build a more prosperous, progressive and liveable Negeri Sembilan for all," they added.
