DAP reps' pullout in Melaka won't affect Perak unity govt ties, says Saarani

IPOH: The abrupt exit of DAP assemblymen from the Melaka administration will not impact the relationship between executive council (exco) members in the Perak unity government, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

The Perak Mentri Besar assured that representatives from Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan in the state administration could still work together and function normally.

"Yesterday, I sat down with the exco members from Pakatan and was straight with them.

"I asked whether what happened in Melaka would also happen here. Nothing happened since," he said at a press conference after opening the Halaman Seri Sejahtera at Taman Lapangan Terbang here on Thursday (July 16).

"We pledged that for the time we are still in service to the state, we will continue (to work together).

"But... after the state legislative assembly is dissolved, it will be a different story.

"For now, we will continue to do our duties as usual, so there are no problems," he added.

It was reported that DAP assemblymen from Melaka had quit the state administration.

Saarani said politicians can have different opinions or views, but they should not try to offend one another.

"It is just politics.

"Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad once said enemies or friends in politics won't last.

"But it is better that we do not offend, condemn, hurl abuse and sever ties because we are all humans.

"We must be careful not to speak carelessly and hurt or deeply wound others' feelings," he added.
