MELAKA: A major political shake-up is expected to unfold as Melaka DAP prepares to announce its withdrawal from Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh's administration over a proposed state constitutional amendment.
The party's state chairman Khoo Poay Tiong confirmed that he will hold a press conference with Melaka Pakatan Harapan chairman Adly Zahari on Tuesday (July 14).
The move is linked to the tabling of a motion to amend the state constitution to introduce appointed state assemblymen at the ongoing state legislative assembly on Tuesday.
The party is understood to be announcing the resignation of all its representatives holding positions in the state administration in protest against the constitutional amendment.
Those expected to resign include Melaka entrepreneur, cooperative development and consumer affairs committee chairman Allex Seah Shoo Chin, deputy executive councillors Low Chee Leong and Leng Chau Yen as well as Deputy Speaker Kerk Chee Yee.
The move is also expected to end DAP's participation in the state unity government led by Barisan Nasional.
