Sabah in talks with Finance Ministry to refine targeted diesel subsidy mechanism

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is negotiating with the Finance Ministry and federal agencies to refine the implementation of the targeted diesel subsidy programme, which was expanded to the state on July 1.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced that the Sabah State Secretary will chair a follow-up meeting with federal and state officials this Friday to address mounting grievances from local stakeholders. The issue was also deliberated during the State Cabinet meeting on July 13.

"The federal government must examine these issues thoroughly and consider recommendations to alleviate the burden on affected groups," Hajiji said in a statement on Wednesday (July 15).

The engagement follows calls to review the Budi diesel scheme's quotas.
