KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu will contest the Negri Sembilan polls using the party’s logo instead of the Perikatan Nasional banner after its coalition partner PAS pursued cooperation with Barisan Nasional without discussing the matter, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The Bersatu president said the party’s supreme council, which met on Wednesday (July 15) night, had expressed regret that PAS had made a unilateral decision to cooperate with Barisan in this state polls.
“PAS’ decision is against the interest of Perikatan as a political coalition which is supposed to be an alternative to Barisan and Pakatan Harapan.
“Due to the Perikatan seat allocation committee meeting being postponed indefinitely and that Bersatu was not roped in for any discussion on the coalition’s seat allocation, the party’s candidates in this election will use Bersatu’s logo,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Muhyiddin also criticised PAS’ leadership of Perikatan, accusing them of deviating from the coalition’s goals and struggles.
On the seat allocation committee meeting which was supposed to be held on July 12, Muhyiddin claimed it was postponed because PAS had taken a stand to have political cooperation with Barisan.
“Until today, the Perikatan supreme council had not been convened and the committee had not met to finalise seat allocation among its members,” he said.
