SEREMBAN: Barisan Nasional will ensure that economic growth in Negri Sembilan remains on par with the national average if it is able to govern the state again, said its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi
Ahmad Zahid said the economic growth recorded 4.6% in Negri Sembilan last year, which was below the national average of 5.2%.
“Johor recorded a growth of 8% last year. Believe me, this was possible with stability and God-willing, I in Putrajaya will help when we take over the state government.
“I am confident that if we are given another chance to administer this state, we will grow together with Johor and be among the most prosperous states in the country.
“We will revive Barisan’s previous growth foundations,” said Ahmad Zahid during a Barisan candidate announcement program at Stadium Paroi on Wednesday (July 15).
Ahmad Zahid also criticised the present caretaker state government over its failure to address the Negri Sembilan constitutional crisis.
“The crisis happened due to their failure and therefore, Negri Sembilan needs a fairer and wiser government,” he added.
Ahmad Zahid also said locals in Negri Sembilan don’t want this crisis to be prolonged, as they need a state government that serves them and solves their problems.
“Parents want the best education for their children, traders want space to do business and investors need stability to bring jobs to the people,” he added.
Negri Sembilan will go to the polls on Aug 1 and Nomination Day is on July 18.
