TAIWANESE singer Rainie Yang has finally found the courage to return to music variety shows after going off pitch and crashing out of the reality singing competition Singer 2024 two years ago, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The 42-year-old comforted fellow contestant Wang Yien on The Treasured Voice recently.
Yang and Wang were performing a duet of the song Insomnia but it got interrupted when the latter fumbled his lyrics.
She encouraged Wang not to be nervous and realised that the same advice applied to herself.
Yang said it reminded her of the episode when she failed to hit the high notes on her 2008 classic Take Me Away on Singer 2024.
As a result, she was eliminated from the competition. The performance sparked widespread criticism and a slew of online memes.
“If I let fear or the desire to protect myself stop me, I’d lose the chance to do what I truly love,” she said, explaining why she returned to the stage.
> In a desperate attempt to save her husband’s life, a woman in China’s Yunnan province tried sucking out snake venom from his finger.
China Press reported that the man was working in his padi field when a cobra bit his finger.
The farmer felt dizzy and weak as his finger swelled up.
His wife panicked but recalled scenes from television dramas where people would suck snake venom from a bite and attempted to do the same.
While he was taken to hospital, the wife began to feel numbness in her lips and tongue which spread to her face and limbs.
The next day, she felt weak and her family rushed her to hospital.
The couple were at risk of respiratory failure, cardiac arrhythmia and even death.
Doctors managed to save them by administering antivenom.
