KUALA LUMPUR: A 15-year-old girl suspected of stabbing a fellow student at a secondary school in Banting has been remanded for four days to assist in investigations into the case.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Maslinda Selamat at the Telok Datok Magistrate’s Court yesterday, said Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi.
“The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder,” he said when contacted.
Meanwhile, National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer S. Vijeswari Devi said her client is a person with disabilities.
“My client is autistic. That is all I can say,” she said.
In the 9.30am incident on Monday, a Form Three girl was injured after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times on her back, shoulder and face. The victim was rushed to Hospital Banting for treatment.
It is learnt that the suspect entered the school compound through the main entrance prior to the incident. Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar had said only one suspect was involved in the case.
“We should trust the authorities and avoid speculation that could trigger panic,” he said.
Meanwhile, the father of the victim has urged the public to leave the investigation to the police.
Mohd Firuz Ibrahim, 43, said he is aware of the allegations circulating online involving a list of alleged targets, which reportedly included his daughter’s name, purportedly written by the suspect who was her classmate last year.
“The letter cannot be verified, and we are unable to confirm it. I would like to stress that my daughter is not a bully. Even when she leaves the house, either her mother or I will send her. She has never gone out on her own with friends,” he said, Bernama reported.
He said his 15-year-old daughter is still traumatised but is in stable condition after undergoing four hours of treatment in the Intensive Care Unit yesterday to remove blood from her lungs.
