Malaysia, Pakistan share experiences on solving conflicts


PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia and Pakis­tan’s experiences in facilitating negotiations to resolve conflicts were discussed in a meeting between both sides in Rawalpindi.

Leading the Malaysian side was Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (pic), with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir hosting the meeting at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

Saifuddin Nasution, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, said the meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on regional and international security developments, including diplomatic approaches and peace-building efforts in addressing conflicts and geopolitical tensions.

“Pakistan played a role in facilitating negotiations between the United States and Iran in resolving the crisis related to the Strait of Hormuz.

“During the meeting, Syed Asim shared Pakistan’s experience in facilitating peace talks. I shared Malaysia’s experience in facilitating talks between Thailand and Cambo-dia, which led to a ceasefire agreement,” he said in a Bernama report.
