ONE month of singing during a school holiday was meant to be nothing more than a way to earn extra pocket money.
Instead, it marked the beginning of a career that would make Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim (pic) one of Malaysia’s longest-serving entertainers, reported Harian Metro.
Recalling how it all started, Khadijah said she was 15 when her cousin, who worked at a coffee house, asked her to replace a singer who had fallen ill.

“When she said RM700, I agreed straight away,” said Khadijah.
At the time, she viewed singing simply as a way to earn money, hoping to use the money to buy her mother a washing machine.
At 18, while studying secretarial skills, Khadijah received invitations to interview for a job as a flight attendant and an artiste with an established music company. She chose the latter.
“When I arrived, Ahmad Nawab simply said I would be signed on. There was no audition or rehearsal.
“Imagine earning RM1,700 in just a month and a half, with food and accommodation provided. I felt incredibly fortunate,” she said.
> Watching her children grow into their teenage years has prompted actress Diana Danielle to embark on her own journey of growth, Kosmo! reported.
The 34-year-old, whose full name is Diana Danielle Danny Beeson, said raising children becomes increasingly challenging as they grow older, prompting her to return to parenting books to better navigate their teenage years.
She said on social media that her parenting approach has had to evolve.
“Every phase (of a child’s development) is different, and each comes with its own challenges,” the Imaginur star said, adding that this was what inspired her to learn more through reading.
“The way we raise our children has to change and grow with them,” she said.
Diana married actor Farid Kamil in November 2012, and they have two children, Muhammad, 13, and Nur Aurora, 11.
The couple divorced in August 2023 before reconciling, but their marriage ended again in March 2025.
