One dead, two hurt in two-motorcycle collision near JB


JOHOR BARU: A motorcyclist was killed on the spot in a collision with another motorcycle at Taman Johor Jaya near here.

Seri Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the incident occurred at the traffic junction of the overhead bridge on Jalan Johor Jaya at 7.40am on Friday (July 3).

"The 56-year-old victim, a local, was travelling from Taman Johor Jaya when he crashed into a motorcycle ridden by a 28-year-old man," he said in a statement.

ACP Sohaimi said the second motorcycle, carrying a woman as a pillion rider, was making a right turn toward Perling at the middle of the traffic light junction.

He said the victim, who sustained severe head injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene and the body was sent to Hospital Pasir Gudang for a post-mortem.

ACP Mohd Sohaimi said the rider of the second motorcycle broke his left leg, while the pillion rider, also 28, escaped with minor injuries.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said, urging witnesses to contact the police at 07-3864222 to help in the investigation.
