TANGKAK: Johor voters should look beyond campaign slogans and judge candidates based on their integrity, consistency and track record, says MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.

Urging voters to pay close attention to whether politicians practise what they preach, Dr Mah said they should be wary of politicians whose actions do not reflect the principles they publicly champion.

“Democracy is built on trust. When that trust is broken, it affects the entire system,” he said during a walkabout with Barisan Nasional’s Tangkak candidate, Datuk Haw Chin Teck.

Highlighting Haw’s candidacy, Dr Mah described him as a long-time colleague dating back to their MCA Youth days, commending his unwavering principles, steady commitment to public service and sustained involvement in community welfare and charitable work over the years.

According to Dr Mah, Haw’s track record reflects a genuine commitment to serving the people rather than political expediency.

He also called on Barisan leaders and supporters to remain focused on their own achievements rather than react to political attacks.

He pointed to the Johor government’s performance under caretaker Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, citing investment growth and various state initiatives as evidence of effective governance.

“The track record speaks for itself,” he said.

Dr Mah said voters should ultimately base their choice on consistency, values and proven delivery.
