RM200 Madani F1 tickets sold out, says minister

TEMERLOH: Madani tickets priced from as low as RM200 for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2026 have sold out, says Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari (pic).

He said the Sepang International Circuit had reported strong demand from Malaysians after ticket sales were opened to the public.

“The Madani tickets have been fully sold, but we will also see whether there is room and a need for additional tickets.

“We will make announcements from time to time,” he told reporters after the closing ceremony of Innovation Development Through Educational Activities (iDEA’26), Bernama reported.

F1 is set to return to Sepang on Oct 2 to 4 under an arrangement in which Bahrain is hosting the race in Malaysia.

On July 26, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that Malaysia will host the F1 race in October.

The Prime Minister had said that Malaysians would be able to watch the race for as low as RM200 under a special ticket initiative.

This is to give more Malaysians an opportunity to experience F1 racing live in Sepang.

Malaysia hosted its first race in 1999. The Malaysian Grand Prix ran for 19 years, with the final race held in 2017.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Taufiq said iDEA’26 is not merely an innovation competition platform, but also an avenue to develop TVET students’ ideas, creativity and expertise, with the potential for commercialisation in the local, Asean and international markets.

“Their products should be marketed and not stop at winning competitions. We will assess and see how these products can be further developed, including through improvements, before they can be marketed nationwide,” he said.
