Nur@Petra to promote energy efficiency

PUTRAJAYA: The Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (Petra) will carry out the Nur@Petra programme for the domestic category from July.

The implementation of the programme, among others, aims to encourage domestic users to switch to energy-efficient electrical appliances, especially air conditioners and refrigerators.

It is part of the government’s efforts to address challenges due to rising energy costs and uncertainties in the global energy market caused by geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East.

Petra said through the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (Seda) as the implementing agency, the initiative would also help to advance the nation’s energy transition agenda, Bernama reported.

Rebate applications for the domestic category will be open tomorrow.

Petra also said the government has allocated a total of 160,000 rebate units worth RM32mil for the programme this year.

Eligible domestic users can enjoy a RM200 rebate for the purchase of energy-efficient air conditioners or refrigerators that carry a four- or five-star energy efficiency label from the Energy Commission.

More information on the programme can be obtained via Seda’s official website at www.seda.gov.my/nur.
