Two Malaysians injured in Tak Bai bomb blast

KOTA BARU: Two Malaysians were injured after the sports utility vehicle (SUV) they were travelling in was hit by a bomb blast near Mukim Phrai Wan, Tak Bai district, Narathiwat province, Thailand, on Monday (June 29), Sinar Harian reports.

The incident is believed to have occurred at about 11.41am local time, the Malay language daily reported.

The two men sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital by authorities for further treatment.

Authorities are currently securing the area and conducting checks at the blast site.

The route in the area has been fully closed, from the Sapom Junction to Kampung Saba Baharu in Tak Bai district, to allow the bomb disposal unit (EOD) and forensic team to investigate and examine the scene in detail.

Meanwhile, Kelantan police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat, when contacted, confirmed receiving a report on the incident.

“I advise the public to postpone travel to Thailand for the time being,” he told Sinar Harian.
