PAS to reveal decision on support for Bersatu in Johor polls

KOTA BARU: PAS will decide on its support for Bersatu and the Johor state election today, says its secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

He said the decision would be made during a special PAS Central Committee meeting scheduled to begin at 5pm, reported Sinar Harian.

“This Monday, the PAS Central Committee will convene to make decisions on various matters. As of now, no decision has been reached,” he said on Saturday.

Takiyuddin spoke to reporters while attending the Kota Baru PAS annual general meeting, which was officiated by Jerantut MP Khiril Nizam Khirudin.

He also mentioned that the meeting would discuss political cooperation involving PAS and other parties in the Perikatan Nasional coalition.

Regarding the use of the Perikatan logo in the Johor state election, Takiyuddin explained that the issue has been resolved.

He noted that the nomination process for the Johor state election was completed on Saturday.

“There is no question of changing to another logo. As of yesterday, 16 candidates from Bersatu, 11 from PAS, and five from Gerakan are all using the Perikatan logo.

“How can you change it now? The candidates are already in the race. That’s the logo that Perikatan allows its component parties to use,” he said.

Additionally, he expressed his belief that all parties contesting in the election have a fair opportunity, as the Johor state election involved experienced parties that have participated in previous elections, including the 15th General Election.

“I think all parties have equal chances. We will see how it unfolds.”
