Sabah cops probe bullying incident at rural primary school

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police are investigating an alleged bullying case involving pupils at a rural primary school after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said that police have opened an investigation and recorded statements from the victim and individuals believed to be involved in the incident.

He said the case will be handled according to existing legal provisions as the suspects are children under 12 years old.

He advised the public not to continue spreading videos or images related to the incident, as this could negatively affect those involved.

“We ask the community to give space to the police, the Education Department, and the Health Department to carry out investigations and take appropriate action.

“Widespread sharing, including inappropriate comments on social media, will only have negative effects on all parties involved,” he told reporters after officiating the completion of General Operations Force (GOF) GOF Basic Training Course Series 1/2026 for 50 junior officers at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here.

Jauteh said the two-month course provided participants with comprehensive exposure and basic skills required to serve as GOF members.

He said that the training emphasised jungle and non-jungle combat techniques, self-defence, survival training, and various other operational skills relevant to current needs.

“All these skills are crucial to ensure GOF personnel are always ready to face any challenges in the field.

“The training not only enhances their physical and mental capabilities but also instils discipline and self-confidence in carrying out responsibilities.

“This is necessary especially with the addition of three GOF battalions in the state, he said.

He said the GOF are the frontline of the security forces, which must be flexible and able to adapt to any operational situation.
