Two cars damaged after tree falls at Bangsar school


PETALING JAYA: Two cars were damaged after a tree fell within a school compound in Bangsar on Wednesday (June 24).

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the Kuala Lumpur Operations Control Centre received an emergency call regarding the incident at 12.13pm.

He said a fire engine from the Pantai Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by personnel from the Seputeh Fire and Rescue Station, was dispatched to the scene.

"Upon arrival, the fire and rescue team found that a tree had fallen within the school compound.

"The tree landed on two parked vehicles. However, no injuries were reported," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the operation was led by Senior Fire Officer I Zakaria Shaari and involved 12 personnel.

He added that firefighters carried out cutting work on the fallen tree branches using two chainsaws.

"The removal of the fallen tree was also assisted by a shovel from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

"The operation was fully completed at 2.35pm," he said.
