Handwriting in Zara-linked documents did not match, court told

PETALING JAYA: A handwriting expert told the Coroner's Court that several portions of documents linked to the late Zara Qairina Mahathir were not written by the teenager and may have been authored by other individuals.

Handwriting and document examiner Dr Linthini Gannetion, 34, who is the 74th witness to testify in the case, said a scientific comparison of documents W1, W2, W3 and Y1 to Y15 found that some entries did not match Zara's known handwriting.

In her written witness statement, she said document W2 could not be regarded as Zara's exclusive personal journal as several pages contained handwriting by other individuals alongside the deceased's writing.

The pages identified were W2_PG45, W2_PG49 to W2_PG51, W2_PG58, W2_PG59, W2_PG61 and W2_PG62.

"These findings indicate that other individuals may have had access to W2 and may have written in it," she said on Tuesday (June 23).

Dr Linthini also testified that examinations of document W3 revealed more than one handwriting pattern, with numerous entries found not to have been written by Zara.
