ROS acknowledges Samsuri as rightful PN chairman, claims Takiyuddin

PETALING JAYA: The Registrar of Societies (ROS) has confirmed the appointment of Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar as the rightful chairman of Perikatan Nasional, says coalition secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

He said that ROS had also registered the resignation of Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin from the chairman’s post on Feb 22.

“We are pleased to inform you that Perikatan has received official feedback from the ROS through a letter addressed to me in my capacity as secretary-general of Perikatan, dated June 19, concerning the administration and management of the party.

“ROS confirms receipt of the minutes of the extraordinary meeting of the Perikatan supreme council dated Feb 22, 2026, and acknowledges the supreme council’s approval of the resignation of the chairman of Perikatan and the appointment of a new chairman of Perikatan.

“ROS confirms receipt of a copy of the minutes of the supreme council meeting (No. 1/2026) dated March 14, 2026 together with the list of leadership appointments and the appointment of new members of the Perikatan supreme council, for ROS’ records.

Takiyuddin, who is also PAS secretary-general, said that Perikatan remains committed to ensuring that all party activities, administrative matters, and management affairs are carried out in accordance with the party constitution and in compliance with Act 832.

“Accordingly, it is emphasised that any activity or meeting conducted in the name of Perikatan may only be carried out with the approval of the chairman of Perikatan Ahmad Samsuri,” he said in a statement on Friday (June 19).

The statement came amid the tussle between PAS and Bersatu over the leadership of the coalition and legality of Ahmad Samsuri’s unilateral decisions on June 17.

Internal party WhatsApp groups too have been rife with allegations that Ahmad Samsuri had not been rightfully registered in the ROS as the legal chairman of the coalition.

On June 17, Ahmad Samsuri announced that Perikatan was dropping Bersatu bigwigs Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Datuk Seri Radzi Jidin from the coalition supreme council line-up.

On Wednesday, Ahmad Samsuri said that Radzi would now be replaced by PAS’ Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who is also the Kedah Mentri Besar.

Bersatu leaders have lashed back, saying that Ahmad Samsuri’s decision was unconstitutional.
